The Getaway restaurant was a solid pick, serving up hot sandwiches that'll knock your socks off! Plus, the staff hustles to make your dining experience one for the books. The beautiful lakeside setting adds to the charm.
A little more thought could've gone into the room. glass cups instead of plastic would elevate the vibe. And I would've liked a headboard or extra cushions for the bed—let's fix those small details!

I spent a night in the Superior King Suite and enjoyed the lovely old-school lobby that gave a cozy vibe. The king bed was comfortable, allowing for a good night's sleep. The whirlpool tub was a fantastic perk, adding to the relaxation feel. However, the room itself needed a paint refresh, and the AC unit was pretty loud, making it tough to sleep at times. The location by the lake is where this place shines. The sandy beaches were a great bonus. The restaurant served a nice breakfast, even if the omelet was one of the few hot options. Staff were friendly and accommodating, which made up for some of the room's issues. I appreciated the historical aspect of the inn, especially knowing John Dillinger once stayed there. Next time, I hope for updated room decor and quieter HVAC units.

Stunning lake views from the rooms provide a beautiful backdrop for relaxation, especially from the cozy patios that extend the feel of your own little retreat. The charming French country decor creates a welcoming atmosphere that complements the surrounding beauty, making it feel intimate and unique.
While the overall charm is appealing, the property shows signs of wear and tear, with dated carpets and bathrooms that could use some renovations. I encountered a broken bathroom light that left us fumbling around in the dark, and the fireplace didn’t function properly after we turned it off. The breakfast situation felt misleading. the voucher offered didn’t cover much at nearby restaurants, resulting in a bit of a letdown regarding expectations. Additionally, the check-in process could be smoother, as I ended up having to rely on the onsite restaurant for access due to a misplaced key. The lack of a hot breakfast on weekdays was disappointing, especially after a great experience the previous day.

The view is unbeatable!
The balcony view of the lake was amazing and sooo peaceful. Rooms looked recently painted and comfy beds too. Breakfast had tons of options. the croissants were decent but not super fresh. Just wish the coffee in the morning was hotter. It's a nice escape, and the new owners are putting in some effort.
